Blade Maidens: Dead in the Water – 27

“Our twin moons are the source of so many gifts across Telos. They guide us across the seas. They watch over the night travelers on their journeys. And they shape the whole of Mara’s domain with their passage through our skies.

One of the most beautiful of these gifts is the still tide. In the dead of night, once every 7 weeks, the tide draws tight. The waters steady, unmoving, for near an hour. Many a time has it caught a novice captain unawares and unprepared for the sudden drop in speed and lost a cargo to the waves beneath. But if you wait for it upon the shore, underneath Night’s Mother and the Little Sister’s light, you can see pathways through the water cut through by fish of all sizes. Glinting like prismatic stones only to be washed away forever just as the tide ends and the currents resume their path.

A high holy hour for the tidepriests of Mara, and home to some of their most sacred rites. Some say the stilltide itself is a gift from the Little Sister and Night’s Mother to Mara, so that she may rest for even a short while.”
