Blade Maidens: Dead in the Water – 19
“Labidogna, mother of the web, the all-seeing, lived before even the Gods themselves traveled the realms. The threads of her web spread across every realm, moral or divine, fae or demon, and lay in wait. Not for prey, no, but for information.
Her eight eyes could see anything that her threads touched. The sound of words carried on the wind, shouted in battle or spoken in hushed whispers. The vibration of footsteps, rushing out of a bedroom in the dead of night, or armor-clad to sit upon a throne. None could escape her eyes and ears. From the highest god to the lowliest pauper. Even the fae, who oh-so highly value their secrets, were vulnerable to her subtle gaze.
Deeming her knowledge too dangerous for any one being to hold, the rarest of things occurred: a united effort from the gods, the demons of The Abyss, and the high courts of the fae. Laying siege to her home in the shadows between stars, they fought against the cosmic spider for years upon end. Only claiming victory by plucking out her eyes one-by-one, until she was blind and unable to fend off their assault.
In the days that followed, her eyes were quickly squabbled and fought over by the victors. In the chaos, some were lost. Others remained in the clutches of the divine and damned. Some say a few have found their way to Telos, traded hands through the centuries by poor souls who do not know the true power they hold. And what would be done to acquire them by those who do.”
