Blade Maidens: Strays – 20

“Hey Dad,

Sorry it’s been a while. Life on the road, you know how it goes.

I hope you’re doing well. Haven’t heard any new Rhapsody Havensbrook originals make their way up here in a while. Are you still working on your music? You better be. I know without Poppa there it’s quieter, you’ve got to fill the silence with something. Anything’s gotta be better than Halgrim yelling himself raw at the docks.

I’m doing fine. The silver was very sweet, but you don’t need to send me any coin, I promise. I’m keeping busy. No, I haven’t spoken to any of the band since we split. I’m sure they’re doing well, Ollie’s got a good head on their shoulders and Keena would kick his ass if they weren’t taking decent gigs. I do miss them, I know you think I should go back but I needed something new. Hard to carve out my own story when it’s third on the billing, y’know?

I don’t know when I’ll be back home. Sorry. I know that’s not what you want to hear. But everyone knows me down there and I don’t want to ride on our family coattails. I miss you. I love you. I know it’s hard and I promise I’m thinking of you every time I’m by the sea. Get that salty tang on the breeze, think of all those nights out on the patio until Poppa called us in for dinner. Took a while but you finally got my stupid little fingers to learn their way around a guitar.

Best teacher I ever had.

I love you, Dad. Miss you. I’ll send another letter soon.

Melody”
